Description:

For sale: A 2002 Yamaha GH1G Baby Grand Piano. 5' 3" long. This is a special "Georgian" edition of the GH1B, and originally cost about $5,000 more than the standard GH1B with ebony polyester finish. Dazzling, lustrous, semi-gloss, premium-grade Georgian mahogany veneer finish. It has a warm, orange-brown tone, instead of the usual burgundy red color. Gorgeous bookmatched (mirror-imaged) inlaid mahogany music rack. The distinctive, classic Empire style legs (AKA "ice cream cone" legs) are fluted and tapered, as are those on the bench. This was a style found on many Steinway grands 100 years ago. Made in Thomaston, Georgia. The quality level of the GH1G is comparable to the Japanese-made GH1B and its predecessor, the G1. When their American factory in Georgia closed, Yamaha came out with a smaller (5' long), lower-quality "Georgian" model (GB1K), made in Indonesia. Includes original bench, owner's manual, and a dust cover for the keys. CONDITION: literally perfect, mechanically and cosmetically. One owner. Purchased from an authorized Yamaha dealer in Massachusetts. It was played regularly for only the first 2 years, so there is close to zero wear on the hammers, dampers, key bushings, and other internal components. Beautiful, moderate tone: not too bright, not too mellow. The bass is deep and resonant. The playing action is moderate and even. The tuning pins are nice and tight, so it stays in tune with no problem. The case is beautiful, with no dings, dents, scratches, water stains, sun fading, corrosion, or any other cosmetic imperfections. RECENT SERVICE: Recently tuned and cleaned, inside and out. More importantly, it has just been fully regulated. Regulation adjustments should be done once every few years, at least, to compensate for normal wear and tear, humidity changes, and the passage of time. Regulation consists of the many adjustments and tweaks needed to keep the playing action smooth and even, and to keep the tone at its best: not too bright, not too muted, and consistent from key to key. Unfortunately, most piano owners eventually let their instrument get out of regulation, due to lack of use, and/or to avoid the extra expense involved in maintaining peak performance. Just like a car, your piano sometimes needs more than just a tune-up. ABOUT MODEL G1, GH1, GH1B, and GH1G BABY GRANDS: For about 50 years, Yamaha's best-selling baby grand was the Model G1. It had a long-standing reputation as a great quality piano for the money. Being Yamaha's standard grade, standard size baby grand (5' 3" long), it had superior tone to the smaller "petite" baby grands (4' 11" to 5'), such as the Indonesian-made GA1 and its replacements, the GB1 and GB1K. It was also more affordable than the Model C1 Conservatory Series baby grand. For years, model GH1 was an economy version of the G1, with a cheaper case. But when the G1 was finally discontinued in the early 1990's, the GH1B took its place, upgraded to the quality level of the standard-grade, standard-size G1. The new Model GP1 took the place of the old GH1, with a lower-grade case and a lower price tag. Warranteed against major defects for 5 years. Price: $9,500 delivered within Mass/CT/RI/southern VT or NH. Can be delivered elsewhere in New England or NY state for a small additional fee. Located in Ware, MA. Close to Route 9, Route 32, and Mass. Turnpike. See it anytime - day, night, or weekend.
