Description:

This 1967 Mercedes-Benz Unimog 404 features a Metz cargo van body and was reportedly used as a fire truck in Kleingern, Germany, before being imported to the US in the 1990s by a military vehicle collector in New York. The seller acquired the truck approximately 12 years ago and, until 2019, had used it predominantly for deep snow driving on his ranch. Power comes from a replacement 3.0-liter turbo diesel inline-five paired with a six-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. The truck has been repainted blue with a white roof and gray bed liner, and previously-installed firefighting equipment has been removed from the interior to create a bed platform. This Unimog is offered with uninstalled emergency lights and a Colorado title in the seller’s name. The front passenger compartment has been painted with gray bed liner and features heated and cooled leather-upholstered Cadillac front bucket seats with red harnesses. The rear firefighting equipment racks have been converted to a bed platform measuring approximately 6′ by 6′. The cabin is all business, with a bare metal dash featuring a mix of factory VDO gauges, aftermarket items, and a five-digit odometer which reads approximately 15k kilometers (~9,400 miles). Actual chassis mileage is unknown.. Typical of Unimogs, there are a myriad of levers between the seats for controlling the main 6-speed transmission, 2-speed transfer case and PTO. Heated and cooled leather seats from a modern Cadillac offer luxury usually unheard of in this kind of rig. This vehicle has been parked since 2019 and is not currently running. $25k, or best offer.
