Description:

This is a limited edition, numbered and artist signed print by William S. Phillips, a renown Medford Oregon aviation artist. The Blue Angels sweep past Cedar Point in an echelon right formation. Known as the "Ambassadors of Goodwill," they are the United States Navy's flight demonstration team. Formed in 1946, the Blues gave their first demonstration on June 15 and today, they are still thrilling crowds with their skill and talent. As the title of this painting implies, the Blue Angels - although carrier qualified - spend their tour with the team ashore. Like the shore birds, they are associated with the sea and land alike. Shore birds also fly very close to the ground and can be seen at any time skimming along just above the sand or surf. Lithograph depicts the United States Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, who have been in existence since 1946. This print shows them executing a low level turn at Point Lobos near Monterrey, California. In this image, the pilots are flying McDonnell Douglas A-4F Skyhawk IIs. The Blue Angels' mission is to support Navy recruiting. Since 1955, they have been based at NAS Pensacola in Florida, and in 1986 they began flying their current plane, the F/A-18 Hornet.
